Macomb County Deputies Rescue Young Deer Tangled in Hammock
On October 1, 2025, deputies from the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call in Harrison Township, Michigan, involving a young deer trapped in a backyard hammock.
Arriving shortly after 8 a.m., a sergeant and deputy carefully worked together to free the animal, which had become ensnared and unable to extricate itself. After moments of cautious intervention, the deer was successfully released and quickly retreated into the nearby woods.
Such incidents highlight the challenges wildlife face as urban and suburban environments increasingly intersect with natural habitats. Whitetail deer, common in Michigan, are agile but can become vulnerable when they get entangled in man-made objects.
This rescue showcases the importance of swift and careful human assistance in reducing stress and injury risks to wild animals in distress.
Bodycam footage of the rescue is available for viewing, providing an up-close look at this compassionate wildlife intervention.
